Doing More with Less: Leveraging Technology for Social Change

We are happy to announce the first SocialChangeCamp in New York City, which aims to bring together non-profits, NGOs, community organizations, corporate responsibility teams, museums, schools, and other public interest organizations together with new media and technology professionals to talk about the technology and review techniques and solutions that have worked.  Simply put, we want people who've made social change with technology to pass the torch and teach those who want to.

What is SocialChangeCamp?

SocialChangeCamp is a BarCamp style "unconference" for forward-thinking public interest organizations seeking new and diverse ways to leverage technology to recruit volunteers, build communities, inspire grassroots movements, reach donors, and facilitate effective advocacy. SocialChangeCamp empowers socially conscious organizations with channels and techniques that help them find relevance and accessibility in social media and related technology, regardless of their current levels of engagement. By educating, empowering, and connecting our community members, we act as a catalyst for social change.

What is a BarCamp?

BarCamps are "unconferences" where all attendees will be encouraged to be presenters. As a result, the schedule of speakers is determined on the morning of the event.  This allows for maximum flexibility, and ensures the event is made by and for the people who attend it. (Learn more)

What do I get for coming?

In addition to the opportunity to discuss changing face of technology and non-profits with your peers, your $10 admission gets you a limited edition T-shirt designed by HUGE and printed by Storenvy, a $25 giving card from DonorsChoose to apply to the charity of your choice, breakfast, drinks and snacks will be provided throughout the day.

Who should come?

  • Executive directors and managers of non-profits, public organizations, museums, schools, and government offices who want to learn more about using social media technology.
  • Experts in marketing, business development, IT, and emerging technology visionaries from the private sector who want to share their experience with the non-profit sector.
  • Anyone who wants to help change the world through technology.
